Marissa Carter Late Late Show

I was still studying in college when this photo was taken! I was about 2 years into completing my three year course and I was going through a hard time adjusting to the change and choice of a new career path, I was starting to question had I made the right decision? And after all I had left my job and sunny apartment in Los Angeles and this was December in Ireland.

I had designed this dress as part of my first dress collection in college, I wanted to know “were my designs good?” “would anyone be interested in wearing my pieces?”. I gave this dress to a friend of mine who is friends with some boutique owners around Ireland. Maybe I could get some feedback or insight into if they were any good? A few days later I get a call, “your dress is going to be on the Late Late show”! I remember saying “sorry is this a joke”, “no, a lady who does tan I think is going to be wearing it”…. can you tell that my friend was a man!!! Apparently Marissa Carter was on the hunt for a nice dress to wear for her TV appearance and walked into the boutique where my dress just happened to be hanging and that’s the dress she wanted.

I do believe in being in the right place at the right time, and I also believe everything happens for a reason good and bad at a time when its supposed to happen. I was really at a turning point and was starting to think that maybe I had learned all I needed too in college and that enough was enough, so when Marissa walked onto the set actually wearing my dress ( i’ve learned over the years not to get too excited until it actually happens) it gave me the courage to keep going and also the push I needed to believe in myself and that I was on the right path.

I did finish college and now I have my own label and I absolutely love what I do. I’m sure Marissa never realised at the time what her decision to pick that dress did for me but if you ever do read this all I want to say is Thank You xoxo
